Creating Lasting Change

“Trying to find a tutor we could afford was going to be impossible.” ~ Izzy’s mom

As we bring this challenging year to a close, we invite you to share in all that your contributions made possible.

Youth Literacy

“Without the volunteers, who knows where Izzy would be right now. Volunteers aren’t just volunteering to help read, the volunteers also help with confidence, self-advocating, and by changing how you feel about reading – you become a better reader.
– Youth Literacy student Izzy’s mom

English for Speakers of Other Languages

“I love being able to watch her unfold in learning this new language. You can just see it opens up doors and excitement for her because she is able to understand and express through written and verbal communication.” – Evangeline, ESOL tutor

Adult Literacy

“Al’s most recent testing showed that he moved up to the next literacy level. Because of that progress, Al and I agreed that he can handle studying for another subject of the GED, so plans are in the works for him to receive a second tutor for Math.”
Rebecca Massey, Adult Literacy program director

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

My daughter looks forward to receiving a new book in the mail every month. There’s something magical about receiving mail, and we immediately sit down to read it. One of our all time favorite books came from DPIL, The Rabbit Listened. The book has beautiful illustrations, and teaches a very important lesson, not just to children but their caregivers too. We are so thankful to be recipients of these amazing stories that help us build literacy and memories with our daughter.”
– Sherree, parent of a Dolly Parton Imagination Library book recipient
